Donington Park Preview: Simon Reid
The British Superbike Championship's penultimate Showdown round of the year kicks off at Donington Park this coming weekend (2nd - 4th October) and Carl Cox BMW-By MLav Racing's Simon Reid will be aiming to repeat this season's previous podium performance there.

“This year's been a good year for me, and we've got some really strong results. After being away from racing in BSB for over a full season we sort of anticipated this year to be sort of finding our feet again and getting back up at speed. I would say that we've probably exceeded expectations at times. The team has been great and working with Alpha and BMW has been fantastic. I think we've done a pretty good job to date based on the scenario that we were in going into this season.
It's hard to return to such a competitive series like British Superbikes and be competitive straight away, but we've done that. I knew there would be weekends where I could be strong, and then I knew there would be weekends where it would be tough, and that's more or less exactly how the year’s gone. We’ve had highs and lows but some weekends have been fantastic.
Snetterton has to be a standout weekend for us with the lap record there and we finished second there, almost challenging for the win. That would have to be one of the highlights of the year. And America, racing at COTA was a big experience as well, I qualified in pole full possession there. We certainly didn't get the results in America that we hoped for, but at the same time, it was such a huge experience.
We were on the podium at Donington at the start of the year and we were strong there. It's a circuit I enjoy so I’m looking forward to getting back there. America was a big challenge, to learn, and adapt on the Dunlop tyres. But now I'm jumping back to BSB where we're on Pirelli, sort of what I know. So, I’m really looking forward to getting to Donington this weekend and hopefully we can have another strong round, just like we did at the start of the year.”
